Managing Quantity Surveyor / Civils & Utilities / Permanent
We are urgently looking for Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead and manage the locally based Quantity Surveying team. The successful candidate will be managing a Capital delivery framework valued at over £100m a year.
You will be expected to take responsibility for a portfolio of projects and you will manage the whole commercial process from tender through to final account, reporting to the commercial manager who leads the sector. Ideally the successful candidate will come from a utilities / highways / general infrastructure background.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Assess risk and opportunities within projects, with the financial stability of the business being the priority focus.
Facilitate good working relationships with our supply chain partners so that they provide the necessary support to remain competitive in seeking future work.
Understand, develop, convey, implement and compliance monitoring of company ethos and sustainable best practice.
Monthly Stream P&L/Forecast reporting to Regional Commercial Director. Sustainable profit maximisation, i.e. increased value and/or reduced cost.
Sustainable cash flow maximisation, i.e. reduced debtor days and/or controlled subcontract days.
Contract Documentation review - material risk and opportunity identification. Risk and Opportunity mitigation/maximisation plan, implementation, guidance and success monitoring.
Plant and Materials - implementation, guidance and success monitoring of plant & material usage efficiency.
Programme/progress monitoring - delay/disruption and loss/expense identification, reporting and notification.
Project specific supply chain relationship and customer relationship satisfaction.
Monthly forecast and subcontract liability production to standard and to timetable.
The key tasks of this role include:
Effective contribution to the maximisation of financial return on projects.
The identification of commercial business risk and developing solutions for its minimisation.
The review and negotiation of terms and conditions of contract and subcontract.
Accurately defining the commercial parameters of contracts. Ensuring a good level of Cash flow is maintained within the Business Unit.
